Napier & Surrey latest to back Everest Test
The star of this seasons Twenty/20 Cup and one of crickets most famous clubs are the latest to pledge their support to The Everest Test.
Graham Napier lit up the competition on June 24th when he hammered 152* from just 58 balls, including 16 sixes, but first came to our attention when he trekked to Everest Base Camp last winter.
Surrey County Cricket Club should need no introduction, they boast 19 Championship Titles and have had several periods of totally dominating the English game.
Thanks must firstly go to Lawrence Booth at the Guardian for helping us get in touch with Graham, and our own Charlie Bathurst-Norman for bringing Surrey on board.
Graham himself was very supportive of our endeavour and has promised to help out in any way he can, as well as write a piece on his own experience at Base Camp.
He said: “I think it’s great what you’re doing and wish you the best of luck - at the start of the summer I was just trying to get in the Essex side and had I not had a decent season I would probably be trying to come with you!”
The interview he gave was both insightful and interesting, and can be read about in more detail by clicking here.
Surrey meanwhile have offered to help out in an abundance of ways and will be our official cricket partner. They are willing to give us access to their players, training facilities, pitch at The Oval as well as kit and memorabilia.
All of this is simply fantastic and we hope that both of these can be the beginnings of relationships that can really take The Everest Test to a much wider audience.
In the next week or so we also hope to be able to name our two patrons, but you will have to wait to find out just who they are!
